The International Aeromodeling Center at AMA's Muncie IN Headquarters held a party last month. A big one! The Academy's 75th Anniversary Celebration, July 14-17, was a four-day aeromodeling festival that drew members from 36 states to fly and enjoy displays and demonstrations in both aviation and aerospace. FAI World Championship draws 31 countries
The IAC and AMA hosted an FAI World Championship for the third year in a row the last week of July. The F3A Pattern contest was held during a good ol' Midwestern heat wave with temperatures flirting with 100 degrees. IRCHA Jamboree will bring hundreds of heli pilots to IAC
The International Radio Controlled Helicopter Association's annual Jamboree is slated for Muncie August 10-14. With 800-900 registered pilots, it challenges the Joe Nall event as the nation's largest gathering of aeromodelers. Always exciting, IRCHA Jamboree is a great place to see the premier helicopter pilots in action.
Member alert! AMA balloting for district and national officers coming
During mid-September, all AMA members will receive what is traditionally known as the "bill and ballot." That is, your renewal notice and opportunity to vote in applicable district elections as well as for two national offices: president and executive vice president. Watch for this in the mail. Commemorative Air Force and AMA in talks on youth
The Commemorative Air Force(CAF) has approached AMA to discuss potential joint youth outreach programming. According to AMA Education Director Bill Pritchett, AMA's recent success in inking agreements with the EAA and Civil Air Patrol has sparked interest from this famous historic, full-scale organization.
